EastEnders star Kellie Bright explains Linda and Alfie exit story

EastEnders star Kellie Bright has opened up about Linda Carter’s and Alfie Moon’s exit storyline.

Scenes airing on the BBC soap next week will see Linda face a huge decision as Alfie asks her to leave Walford with him, which comes after her recent drunken outburst towards him.

She bumps into him and apologises, before Alfie reveals his plans to take a break from the Square following the end of his cancer treatment and invites her to join him.

“She’s desperate to escape and run away. It seems like the perfect option,” Kellie explained, noting that Alfie “is a good friend to her” and is “standing by her”.

“She is deep in her addiction and he’s not turned his back on her,” she added. “He is trying to help her and support her, even though he doesn’t know what’s going on.”

“The one thing about him is that he knows there is something that Linda is not dealing with and I think that even just someone recognising that is quite comforting for her,” she continued, referencing the weight of Linda’s secret that she killed Keanu Taylor over Christmas.

Linda feels forced to accept Alfie’s offer when she sees Karen return to Walford, and after Elaine learns of her plans, Elaine accidentally reveals that Linda will be leaving to Stacey.

Meanwhile, Linda continues to drink, and Lauren soon catches on.

“I think Linda thinks she’s got it under control,” Kellie said. “I think she thinks, ‘It helps me get through my day’, and that everyone else has got the problem, not her. I also think she thinks she can hide it much better than she can.”

The new scenes will also come after Linda and Alfie’s shock kiss in this week’s scenes, which she may end up regretting.
