Little People, Big World’s Jeremy Roloff Gets Massive Backlash After Comparing Childhood To Vietnam

Little People, Big World star Jeremy Roloff may have left the series behind, but viewers of the show are upset with some recent comments he made about his childhood, comparing it to the atrocities of the Vietnam war. Jeremy, son of Matt Roloff and Amy Roloff, has been in the public eye since Little People, Big World’s debut in 2006. Though he’s currently estranged from the rest of his family including his twin brother, Zach Roloff, Jeremy still has people who originally watched him on Little People, Big World that follow him on social media and watch his life unfold.

In a recent now-expired post on his Instagram story, Jeremy posted a message about his childhood that’s been criticized by his followers. “I remember being told to get out of the house as a kid. My mom would literally lock us out of the house and I would find something to do for hours on end,” Jeremy shared.

His message, posted over a video discussing one man’s opinion on what’s wrong with today’s children due to technology, wasn’t taken lightly. “I feel like being born in 1990, I was on the last chopper out of Nam concerning a childhood free from this new era of existence.”

“I would simply BE bored and watch the clouds pass through the tree branches”

Jeremy Roloff’s Controversies Explained

Jeremy Roloff from Little People, Big World

While Jeremy was expressing his beliefs on his Instagram, his followers and viewers of Little People, Big World weren’t happy with his remarks. After sharing the post on Reddit, u/oneandonlytara explained, “SO tone deaf. He didn’t get “locked out of the house for hours” nor should boredom have been a thing. He and his siblings had childhoods that were pretty fortunate, imo. The fact that he’s comparing it to “coming home from nam” is vile.” Others, like u/cringelien, kept things simple, explaining, “Jeremy couldn’t even begin to imagine the horrors of war.” Jeremy had people angry with his ignorant sentiments.

This isn’t the first time that Jeremy has faced backlash for his remarks. In the past, he’s come under fire for his negative attitude towards people with disabilities, his lack of understanding of his privilege, and other polarizing topics. Jeremy has been called out for his values often, with viewers having a difficult time comprehending how he’s able to be so cavalier and even callous about disabilities considering his past. Jeremy grew up with two parents and a sibling who have suffered from Dwarfism, but his takes on disabilities and other polarizing topics have been harsh.

As Little People, Big World season 25 begins with a difficult time for Zach and his wife, Tori Roloff, many have wondered about his estranged brother and their time on the series having come to an end. With Jeremy and his wife, Audrey Roloff, currently preparing to welcome their fourth child, their lives have been too hectic to consider a return to the series. Though his time on Little People, Big World has come to an end, Jeremy’s still very public about his thoughts and feelings.
