OutDaughtered star Adam Busby recently got candid about the moment he felt he blew it as a dad. He and his wife, Danielle Busby, have always been transparent about their parenthood journey, and they have never tried to portray themselves as perfect parents. This particular instance was no exception, as Adam was open about his shortcomings.
Adam and Danielle are parents to six girls, and it has been anything but smooth sailing, as featured on their reality show OutDaughtered. They have a 12-year-old daughter Blayke, and five eight-year-old quintuplets, Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley, and Parker. The couple is still learning to find balance and do the best they can, while tending to their careers, keeping up with their reality show, and staying present in each other’s lives. However, no matter how hard Adam and Danielle try, they still make mistakes and are able to recognize when they do.
Adam Lost His Cool With His Daughters

Adam took to Instagram to share an emotional moment where he felt like he failed as a dad. He explained that at the Busby’s home, they have multiple freezers in their garage where they keep meat, popsicles, and other food in it. Adam’s daughters like to frequently open the freezer to get a treat or a snack, but they have a habit of leaving the freezer door open. Normally, Adam has been able to catch their mistake in time and close it before any food spoils. In this case, however, the family had spent all day at the water park, and the freezer door had been left open all day.
When Adam went into the garage and found that over $700 worth of meat had to be thrown away, he lost his temper with his girls. He didn’t use inappropriate language or become hostile, but he did raise his voice and yell at them, wanting to know who was responsible. Adam reminded his daughters that they should always close the freezer door when they’re done, and whoever left it open would be in trouble and lose a lot of things. He explained in his IG video that there are cameras all over the house, including the garage, so he would’ve been able to easily see who was at fault.
Adam Isn’t Proud Of His Reaction
The biggest point of Adam’s video was to explain that he wasn’t proud of his reaction, and he felt that he blew it as a dad. He never wants to lose his temper with his daughters or lash out at them, and the fact that he yelled at them made him emotionally distraught and disappointed in himself. Adam explained that he instantly regretted his actions and felt so bad for the way he reacted in the heat of the moment.
It’s clear that Adam loves his girls, and said he would be sure to apologize to them in the morning. While he’s certainly been far from a failure in his role as a father, his reaction was one that he genuinely took to heart. Grace and forgiveness are something that the Busby family takes seriously, and hopefully, Adam will be able to extend that same attitude toward himself. OutDaughtered season 9 will be returning soon, and will catch up with more of the Busby family’s lives as the girls have grown up.
