Sister Wives: Janelle Brown Is Trying To Heal From Garrison’s Tragic Death With A New Business

Still reeling from the tragic death of her son, Garrison Brown, Sister Wives star Janelle Brown is grieving by focusing on a new business venture. People grieve in different ways, and Janelle wants to grieve, in part, by staying busy and working on a project that she loves. Janelle had always enjoyed working. Throughout her almost 30 years of being a sister wife, she and her husband, Kody Brown, were the Brown family’s main breadwinners. It’s not surprising that Janelle would want to distract herself from the pain of her tremendous loss by getting her hands dirty and working hard.

Garrison’s tragic and untimely death is still reverberating through the Brown family and the Sister Wives universe. The 25-year-old National Guardsman was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his Flagstaff, Arizona home on March 5. After not being able to reach her depressed son, Janelle sent her other son, Gabriel Brown, to check in on the young man. It was Gabriel who found his brother’s body. Janelle had to bury her young son, with the whole world watching, and is trying to help process her grief by focusing on a new business venture.

Janelle Brown’s New Business

On March 30, Reddit user u/Careless_Secretary47 posted a screenshot detailing the new business that Janelle had just registered. The Sister Wives star plans to call the business Taeda Farms, where she intends to grow and sell cut flowers. It’s important to remember that people mourn in different ways. Though some people may want space to mourn, others deal with grief by getting involved in a project that brings them peace and purpose. Many people find solace in gardening and getting their hands dirty, working the Earth, and hopefully, it will bring a devastated Janelle some comfort.

” Oh, I am so happy for her…ik she has to be trying to keep herself busy, to keep her mind off everything .”

Sister Wives fans took to the comment section under the Reddit post to register their support for Janelle and the venture. “Oh, I am so happy for her! My dream is also to have a small cut flower farm,” wrote one Reddit user. Another Reddit user totally understood where Janelle was coming from, writing, “Oh, I am so happy for her…ik she has to be trying to keep herself busy, to keep her mind off everything.”

Janelle has recently expressed gratitude for all the love and support that she has been receiving from fans since Garrison’s tragic passing.

Janelle’s Financial Problems
She Needs The Money

Janelle may be starting a new business, in part, to distract her from her grief, but she also needs to make money. Throughout her marriage, the Sister Wives star worked hard and contributed her funds to the family. With four wives and 18 children, there were a lot of mouths to feed. By the time Janelle left Kody, she had contributed the majority of her earnings to the family pot and had nothing to show for her decades of work. Now that the family has fallen apart, Janelle is on her own financially.

Kody seems to have little concern about Janelle’s precarious financial situation.

He sunk a lot of the family’s money into a plot of land at Coyote Pass in Arizona. The Browns had planned to develop the land for them all to live on together someday, but the family fell apart before they got around to it. At one point, Janelle needed a house, and, with funds limited, she ended up living in a trailer on the property, while Kody bought a $900,000 house for his fourth and favorite wife, Robyn Brown. Janelle was on her own financially long before the divorce.

Janelle’s Past Business Ventures
Entrepreneurial Spirit

The flower farm isn’t the first time Janelle has tried her hand as an entrepreneur. During earlier seasons, Janelle and her fellow Sister Wives stars had wanted to open a gym, but that never happened. Later, the Browns started a clothing retail operation called My Sister Wife’s Closet, but it didn’t last for long. These days, in addition to working as a real estate broker and life coach,Janelle also sells Plexus, a multi-level marketing weight-loss product. Janelle has lost a lot of weight over the years, which she attributes to diet and exercise, in combination with Plexus products.

” The results weren’t overnight and I’m okay with that . It’s all about slow and steady that wins the race .”

In December 2022, Janelle posted an Instagram ad for Plexus, while showing off her impressive weight loss. Janelle doesn’t promise too much in the way of results, writing, “The results weren’t overnight and I’m okay with that. It’s all about slow and steady that wins the race.” Plexus is controversial because multi-level marketing has all the earmarks of a pyramid scheme. In fact, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued cautionary letters to the company as part of its mission to protect consumers’ rights.

The Browns Mourn Garrison
An Unimaginable Loss

The Brown family buried Garrison in a private religious ceremony several days after his tragic death by suicide, and they recently attended a military service for him. Photos from the event highlighted the moment when a soldier offered Janelle a folded American flag in honor of her deceased son. The photos were heartbreaking, but there’s no doubt that the Brown family appreciated the beautiful tribute to Garrison.

Sadly, Garrison wasn’t on good terms with Kody at the time of his death. Though the father and son used to be very close, the COVID-19 pandemic tore the family apart. Kody and Robyn were terrified of the virus and enacted impossibly strict virus mitigation rules. When some of Kody’s older children, including Garrison, couldn’t follow the rules, Kody stopped seeing them entirely, even on holidays. Once the family started spending the holidays apart, they were never able to reunite again. Kody likely has many regrets about not making amends with his son, and now it’s too late.
